Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Oct 5, 2012 (SPS) - A Saharawi source from the Committee for the Referendum in Western Sahara told SPS that both the Personal Envoy and Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Western Sahara will present forthcoming November a detailed report on the negotiations between the POLISARIO Front and Morocco as well as the obstacles face work of the MINURSO in Western Sahara.

The source stated that the resolution approved by the Security Council last April has asked the UN Secretary General to submit a report on the course of settlement and international efforts to the Council every six months, highlighting Morocco’s fear of revealing the violations of human rights in the light of its obstruction to the negotiations with the Polisario Front, last of which was withdrawing confidence from Christopher Ross last May.

“To date, Morocco has shown no indication concerning receiving the UN Envoy Christopher Ross due to Rabat’s embarrassment, after its diplomatic efforts and media campaigns have failed to remove him from office as a mediator in the conflict of Western Sahara,” added the same source. (SPS)
