Ambassador Brahim Ghali pays last tribute to former Algerian President Chadli Bendjedid

Algiers, Oct 7, 2012 (SPS) - The Ambassador to Algeria Mr. Brahim Ghali along with members of the Saharawi diplomatic corps accredited in Algeria paid at the People’s Palace the last tribute to body of the former President of Algeria Chadli Bendjedid.


The Ambassador Brahim Ghali signed, in the name of government and people of the Saharawi people, the condolence register, and extended condolences of the Saharawi people to their brotherly Algerian on the passing away of one Algeria’s historic men who gave many sacrifices for his people and country, Algeria.


Mr. Brahim Ghali recalled to the role of the deceased Chadli in enhancing the strong bonds of brotherhood already existed between the brotherly Saharawi and Algerian people, underlying that his passing away constitutes “a great and heavy loss for Algeria and for Arabic and Islamic nation.”


Moreover, the President of the Republic Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz sent Saturday a letter of condolence to his Algerian counterpart Mr. Abdelaziz Bouteflika, in which he expressed “heartfelt condolence sympathy” with family of the deceased and brotherly people of Algeria as a whole.


The late President of Algeria Chadli Bendjedid will be laid to rest Monday after Duhr Prayer at the Martyrs’ Square of El Alia Cemetery in Algiers.


Algeria’s Presidency has declared a national mourning of eight days as from Saturday. (SPS)
