Algiers, Oct 15, 2012 (SPS) - The Algerian Dr. Ismail Debech highlighted that international community well-aware that the struggle waged by the Saharawi people for freedom and self-determination is “lofty and peaceful”, describing Morocco’s attempts to link the Saharawis with terrorism as “unacceptable”.

“Over 37 years, we have not ever heard that there exists any Islamic or terrorist group. The Saharawi people and leaders of the Polisario Front move freely and get a visa in all countries, including Western countries, because they deal in accordance with the international system and legitimacy and human rights. Therefore, the justification of Morocco is unacceptable and illogical and does not serve the interests of Morocco, nor the orientation to build the Arab Maghreb,” Dr. Debech told Daily Algeria.

He emphasized in this regard that Morocco is negotiating with the Frente POLISARIO under aegis of the United Nations within the context of the principle and purpose of conducting a self-determination referendum for the Saharawi people.

“Many countries of the world, including that of Europe, calls for the need to organize a referendum to enable the Saharawi people of their self-determination in accordance with international legitimacy, as no country in the world recognizes Morocco’s occupation and sovereignty over Western Sahara,” the Algerian writer pointed out.
