Algiers, Nov 07, 2012 (SPS) - The Algerian News Agency (APS) underlined today that “the  three-day United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy Christopher Ross to the occupied territories was seen as an "affront" to Morocco, which occupies Western Sahara since 1975.”

UN Special envoy arrived Wednesday in Algiers as part of his trip to the region to relaunch talks between Morocco and the Polisario Front, in order to achieve progress in the search for a solution to the conflict in line with Security Council resolutions.

Ross was received Wednesday in Algiers by Minister for Maghreb and African Affairs Abdelkader Messahel, after a visit to the occupied territories of Western Sahara, described as a turning point in the position of the United Nations and the international community over the Saharawi cause.

He is expected to hold discussions with President of the Republic Abdelaziz Bouteflika. (SPS)
