LO in favour of self-determination of Saharawi people

Submitted on

Oslo, May 12, 2013 (SPS) - The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (Norwegian acronym; LO) has called for enabling the Saharawi people of his right to self-determination, urging the government of its country to play its leading role in this direction.

In a motion adopted at its 33th congress, held from 3th to 7th May 2013 in Oslo, the Confederation denounced the exploitation of Saharawi natural resources by Morocco.

It should be noted that LO is the largest and most influential trade union in Norway.

During its 64th congress, the Norwegian Labour Party voted a resolution calling on Norway to stand in favor of a “just and lasting” solution to the conflict of Western Sahara, while affirming “the legitimate right of the Saharawi people to self-determination.”
