FM congratulates his Guyana’s counterpart on Independence Day

Bir lehlou (liberated territories), May 25, 2013 (SPS) - The Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek has sent a letter of congratulation to Hon. Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Guyana, on the 47th anniversary of Independence her country.


“It gives me great pleasure to convey to you our greetings and felicitations on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of Independence the Republic of Guyana,” writes Saharawi Foreign Minister.


The letter underlined that the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and the Republic of Guyana enjoy “an especially warm and friendly relationship”, expressing confident that the relations of friendship and cooperation between our countries “will be further strengthened for the benefit of our peoples.”


“Please accept, Excellency on this happy occasion, the assurances of my highest consideration and good wishes for your personal health and wellbeing, as well as for the progress and prosperity of the friendly people of Guyana,” concluded the letter.


The Republic of Guyana celebrates the Independence Day on May 26 every year.


This day commemorates the date in 1966 when it attained freedom from the British Empire.


The Republic of Guyana is located in the Caribbean.


It recognized the Saharawi Republic on September 1st, 1979 (SPS)
