Pretoria, Aug 31, 2013 (SPS) - African Women Organization has voiced full support to the struggle of Saharawi people for freedom and independence, in a meeting dedicated for the assessment of its experience during the past 50 years, informed Saharawi embassy in South Africa.
“The struggle of African women against colonialism and imperialism remains among the priorities still maintained by the African Women Organization. The continent has not yet completed its freedom and independence, given that the Saharawi people still fighting for their freedom and dignity. We confirm our support to the Saharawi women and people in their struggle for freedom and independence,” said Ms. Mavivi Myakayaka-Manzini, Head of South African Diplomatic Mission to Namibia.
Ms. Manzini pointed out to the various struggles of the Organization since its inception against imperialism and all forms of segregation.
The Saharawi Republic (SADR) represented at the meeting by Ms. Fatma Al-Mehdi, Secretary General of Saharawi Women Union, Mr. Salha Al-Abd, Ambassador in South Africa, and Mr. Al-Ouali Mousa, First Secretary of SADR embassy.
The Organization was established on 31 August 1962 in Dar es Salaam, capital of Tanzania. (SPS)
