Algiers, Sept 21, 2013 (SPS) - Algerian and Saharawi cultural institutions have agreed to carry out twinning projects, the Saharawi Minister of Culture Ms. Khadija Hamdi said Thursday in Algiers, quoted Friday by Algerian Press Service (APS).
Speaking following a meeting with Ms. Khalida Toumi, Algerian Minister of Culture, Ms. Khadija Hamdi said the twinning concerns Saharawi and Algerian fine arts, cinema and music schools.
This twinning will involve supervision and training in addition to preservation of Western Sahara cultural heritage, for which Algeria has always played a major role, according to the Saharawi minister.
The projects, part of the bilateral cooperation, come to mark the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the outbreak of the Polisario Front’s armed struggle against Moroccan occupation, a “historical milestone” in which “culture play a major role,” she stressed. (SPS)
