Pierre Galand: Tannock’s report on Western Sahara is “very clear”

Submitted on

Brussels, November 4, 2013 (SPS) - President of the Coordination of European Committees and Associations for Support of the People of Western Sahara (EUCOCO) Pierre Galand said Monday that Charles Tannock’s report, adopted recently by the European Parliament (EP), is “very clear” on the violation of human rights in the Sahrawi occupied territories and on the despoiling of Western Sahara’s natural resources.

“It’s important to note that Tannock’s report, adopted by EP, is very clear on the issue of human rights and the violation of Sahrawi citizen’s rights in the occupied territories,” Galand told APS in an interview, underlining that this report “is also clear in its part devoted to to Morocco’s despoiling of Western Sahara’s natural resources.”

While recalling decisions the European Parliament adopted regarding the suspension of agreements on fishing with Morocco, due to the violation of Sahrawi rights in the occupied territories, Galand said he was “chocked” to see that “Spain signed a pre-agreement on fishing with Rabat."  (SPS)
