Kenyan solidarity with Saharawi struggle for freedom and independence

Submitted on

Algiers, Nov 19, 2013 (SPS) - Kenyan Social Democratic Party ( SDP ) and Kenyan Committee of Solidarity with the Saharawi people (KWSFS) reiterated Tuesday their solidarity with the Saharawi people in their struggle for freedom and independence, said a joint press release issued by the party and the committee.

“The territory of Western Sahara has never been part of the Kingdom of Morocco and hence the Moroccan occupation of the territory is unjust, illegal, wrong and shameful," said Mwandawiro Mghanga, SDP’s National Chairperson, KWSFS and their joint statement.

“Western Sahara remains the last colony in Africa. The lies promoted by Morocco regarding the territory will never change this,” he underlined.

He also denounced the violations committed by the Moroccan occupation in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

SDP and KWSFS, in this context, stressed the urgent need to expand the mandate of the MINURSO to include the monitoring and protection of human rights in Western Sahara.

Mr. Mghanga also denounced the “illegal” exploitation by Moroccan occupation of the Saharawi people’s natural resources, warning that the Saharawi people “will not tolerate forever the occupation of its territory by Morocco.”

The statement paid tribute to all countries, governments and organizations of solidarity with the Saharawi cause around the world, led by Algeria, which has always stood with the struggling peoples in their fight for independence and freedom.

It, moreover, condemned the “escalation” and propaganda promoted by Morocco against Algeria. (SPS)
