Seoul, Dec 17, 2013 (SPS) - Korea-Western Sahara Foundation has expressed "great concern" over the alarming human rigts violations committed by Morocco in the occupied Western Sahara territories, voicing support and solidarity with the struggle of Saharawi people.
In a statement issued today in the presence of the Saharawi Minister Delegate for Asia Mr. Moulud Said, who is making a visit to South Korea, the Foundation recalled to the alarming human rights violations by Morocco in the occupied territories, adding that such violations are "well documented by the Human Rights organizations such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, Robert F. Kennedy Center and many other institutions."
"It is of great concern that in the 21st century peaceful demonstrators like the ones at Gdeim Izik are taken before a military court resulting in unhuman and harsh punishments that the international community should denounce," lamented the statement.
The Sahrawi Republic, said the Foundation, is a full fledge member and founder of the African Union, adding that they want the democratic solution through a free and fair referendum in which the people of the Western Sahara will choose between independence or integration with the Kingdom of Morocco.
Korea-Western Sahara Foundation aims to educate the people, elected officials and the different institutions in Korea about the struggle of the Saharawi people for self-determination. (SPS)
