Mauritania takes over African Union rotating presidency

Addis Ababa, Jan 30, 2014 (SPS) - President of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania Mr. Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz took Thursday over the one-year rotating presidency of the African Union (AU), replacing Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn.


Mauritania took over the post during the opening of the 22nd African Union Summit, took place today morning in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia.


The summit is attended by heads of African state and governments, including the President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz.


It focuses on the theme of agriculture and food security in Africa. (SPS)
