Madrid, March 8, 2014 (SPS) - Spain is for a just political solution guaranteeing the right of Sahrawi people to self-determination, indicated a statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following the meeting Friday in Madrid between Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. José Manuel García-Margall an the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for the Western Sahara, Mr. Christopher Ross.
The statement distributed by the Spanish Foreign Ministry after the meeting confirmed the position of Madrid in favour of a solution to the conflict in the Western Sahara in accordance with the just and acceptable solution which guarantees the right to self-determination of the Saharawi people in line with the doctrine of the United Nations.
Madrid is the last stop for Mr. Ross before heading to New York to prepare a report to the United Nations Security Council.
UN envoy had visited Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania and the Sahrawi refugee camps. (SPS)
