Shaheed Hafed, March 27, 2014 (SPS) -  One of the most prominent issues that will be raised with the U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry, is the decolonization of the last colony in Africa, Western Sahara, which is a "priority" for Washington's policy in the Middle East and North Africa, indicated the Algerian newspaper " Le Quotidien d'Oran"  in its Thursday edition.

The newspaper added that Mr. Kerry, delayed a visit to the region in November, will start a working visit on April 2-3, to Algeria, then Morocco, which would focused on the Western Sahara issue to support the efforts of the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy for the Western Sahara, Mr. Christopher Ross, to find a mutually acceptable democratic solution to the Western Sahara conflict.

The newspaper indicated that the announcement of Mr. Kerry's visit to Algeria and Rabat comes one month before the date of renewal of the mandate of  United Nations Mission for the Referendum in the Western Sahara (MINURSO), recalling that the United States was the most prominent supporter of expanding the prerogatives of the MINURSO to include the monitoring of human rights in the Western Sahara.
