Seville (Andalusia), July 9, 2014 (SPS) - The 19th edition of March for Peace in Western Sahara was held Saturday at Encarnación Square in Seville, Andalusia, to call for the independence of Western Sahara and release of Saharawi political prisoners languishing in Moroccan jails.

Organized by several organizations and associations of human rights in Seville, the march was attended by thousands of Andalusia citizens and politicians, in addition to the Saharawi children, who are spending their summer holidays with hosting families in the city.

Participants at the rally, who marched along Seville streets, held Polisario Front flags and chanted slogans calling for freedom and peace in Western Sahara.

Polisario Front’s Representative in Andalusia Mr. Abidin Buchraya warned, during an act organized at the end of the march, of Morocco’s obstructions, calling on the Spanish government to assume its responsibilities and comply with the principle of Western Sahara decolonization.

He also said that a solution to the conflict of Western Sahara goes through the exercise by the Saharawi people of their right to self-determination.

He, therefore, urged Moroccan people to engage in the peace process and the respect for Saharawi people’s right to self-determination, in a way that contributes to the building of a prosperous Arab Maghreb. (SPS)
