Boumerdes (Algeria), Aug 4, 2014 (SPS) - Ambassador of South Africa in Algeria and the Saharawi Republic (SADR) Mr. Joseph KOTANE underlined that Africa can never feel free as long as Western Sahara is jot free, calling for putting an end to the suffering of the Saharawi people.
In an interview with SPS on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the 5th Summer University of Saharawi Cadres on Sunday, Mr. Kotane said that his country as an active partner in the African Union (AU) is with the view that Africa “can never feel and be free, when any part is not free and independent.”
The South African diplomat went on saying that it is high time for the people of Western Sahara “to join their African brothers and sisters in the building of their countries and continent.”
As humanitarian people, said the ambassador, the people of South Africa believe in the equal rights of all people and religions, and in the cooperation among countries of the world.
“The suffering and oppression of the people of Western Sahara is very painful. It is something that we would like to be of the past as soon as possible,” Mr. Kotane told SPS.
Responding to a question about how students and youth in any nation can do in the struggle of their people, he emphasized that the youth and students of any country are part of their countries’ today, tomorrow and in the future.
He finally called on the Saharawi youth and students to learn in order to contribute to the improvement of their society. (SPS)
