Boujdour (occupied territories), Sept 17, 2014 (SPS) - Moroccan occupying forces on Monday banned a peaceful protest was planned by Saharawi human rights bodies in the occupied city of Boujdour, said a right source.
The protesters was demanding the release of all Saharawi political prisoners languishing in Moroccan jails, extension of MINURSO mandate to include human rights monitoring and respecting the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination.
Moroccan forces, in plain clothes and in uniform, surrounded the place of the demonstration, before preventing violently the Saharawi citizens from joining the protest.
It is to be recalled that the Moroccan occupying authorities have raised the siege on the occupied city of Boujdour in an anticipation of new protests. (SPS)
