Birlehlu (liberated territories), November 10, 2014 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz, warned the Moroccan government against continuous crackdown on peaceful protests and violations of human rights of defenseless Saharawi civilians in the occupied territories of Western Sahara.
In a letter Sunday to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, the President of the Republic, recalled the violent dismantling of Gdeim Izik camp in November 2010, denounced the repression by Moroccan occupation forces against peaceful event held Saturday at the occupied city of El Aaiun to demand the release of all Saharawi political prisoners in the Moroccan prisons, organised by group of Gdiem Izik.
Protesters came out to protest the degrading conditions of Saharawi political prisoners and caused the death of some prisoners the last of them was Hassana El Ouali who died in the occupied city of Dakhla on September 28, indicated the president of the republic.
The President of the Republic called on the UN to assume its full responsibilities towards the local population of a territory under the UN supervision pending decolonization and to take all necessary measures to protect the Saharawi defenseless civilians against oppression of Moroccan occupation forces.
The demonstration was organised in El Aaiun on the 4th anniversary of the brutal dismantling of Gdeim Izik camps by Moroccan occupation forces, resulting in 35 wounded most of whom are women, according to preliminary list. (SPS)
