Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) January 31, 2015 (SPS) - Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba, confirmed on Friday morning, that Moroccan continued occupation to parts of Western Sahara’s territories "renders the total liberation of Africa incomplete," on the occasion of the twenty-fourth Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.
“It is incomprehensible that the kingdom of Morocco continues to occupy the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic,” he added
The Namibian President urged, in a speech before the African leaders gathering in the capital of Ethiopian, Addis Ababa, all African leaders to "remain unite in support for the realisation of the right of self-determination by the Saharawi people."
Mr. Hifikepunye Pohamba expressed the hope that the African Union will play a “central role” as a partner of the United Nations to urgently resolve the issue of decolonization of Western Sahara, stressing the need to respect the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination. (SPS)
