Pan-African Parliament to boycott Crans Montana Forum scheduled in occupied city of Dakhla

Midrand (South Africa), February 27, 2015 (SPS)  -The Pan-African Parliament (PAP) declined the invitation to participate in the Crans Montana Forum on Africa and South-South cooperation, scheduled for next March in the occupied city of Dakhla (Western Sahara).

The African Parliament said it "will not be represented" at the Crans Montana Forum, referring to the recent statement of the African Union (AU) which considers that "the organization of any international conference under the current circumstances in Western Sahara, is in contradiction with the efforts of the international community to resolve the conflict in Western Sahara and would create a climate of confrontation in this territory."

At its last summit in January in Addis Ababa, the AU called on member countries and all organizations not to participate in the Crans Montana Forum, which it considers a violation of international law.

"We, the Heads of State and Government of the African Union, appeal call on member states of the African Union, civil society and all organizations not to participate in this Forum scheduled from 12 to March 14, 2015 in the occupied city of Dakhla (Western Sahara)," says the AU resolution.
