Submitted on

London, April 27, 2015 (SPS) - The British court heard Tuesday a complaint lodged by the Western Sahara Campaign in the United Kingdom (WSCUK) demanding a Judicial Review of Her Majesty’s Revenue and Custom's treatment of products originating in Western Sahara being imported into the United Kingdom as Moroccan for the purposes of the EU – Morocco Association Agreement.

The WSCUK also demanded a Judicial Review of the Department for Food and Rural Affairs's granting licences to fish in the territories of Western Sahara under the Fisheries Partnership Agreement between the European Union and Morocco.

Mr. Ken Ritchie from Western Sahara Campaign, who attended the hearing, pointed out that: “Yesterday’s court decision was an important first step towards a legal challenge to the UK Government over its disregard of the rights of the Saharawis.” (SPS)
