Submitted on

Geneva, June 30, 2015 (SPS) - the International Student Movement for the United Nations expressed on Monday its serious concern on the ongoing Moroccan occupation of Western Sahara, in an intervention on its behalf made by the President of the Sahrawi Association of Women in France, Ms.Laala Yahdih before the plenary session of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations.

The student movement regretted the failure of the United Nations to organize a referendum for the Sahrawi people to allow them decide their fate, as well as the continuation of the Moroccan occupation in the occupied Western Sahara.

The movement also called the Human Rights Council to play its role on the issue of human rights and the right of self-determination in Western Sahara, and to take its responsibility with regard to the control and the protection of human rights in the region, as long as it has not yet included within the powers of MINURSO.SPS
