Rome, August 7, 2015 (SPS) - The Italian Parliamentary Group for Western Sahara reaffirmed Friday its attachment to continue defending the rights of the Saharawi people to freedom and independence.
In a letter to Polisario Front’s Representative in Italy Mr. Amih Omar, the Group said that all kinds of injustice and repression experienced by the Saharawi people “will only make us, both within parliament and the senate, more determined to defend the legitimate rights of the Saharawi people.”
The group, composed of 100 parliamentarians, expressed respect to the noble struggle waged by the Saharawi people to achieve their goals.
It, moreover, said they are working at the level of Italian government and European institutions to speak up for the sacred right of self-determination and the respect for human rights in the occupied part of Western Sahara.
To note, the group on Wednesday sent a letter to the Italian Foreign Minister, through which they urged government to take strict measures pressurizing the Moroccan regime to stop its gross violations of human rights against Saharawi civilians. (SPS)
