CRA to send humanitarian aid to Sahrawi refugees

Submitted on

Algiers, 10 August 2015 (SPS) - The Algerian Red Crescent (CRA) has decided to send humanitarian aid to the Sahrawi refugees consisting of a large quantity of foodstuffs and medicines, said Sunday CRA’s President Saida Benhabyles.

CRA will grant humanitarian aid of 316 tonnes of foodstuffs and a large quantity of medicines, said Benhabyles in a press conference held jointly with her Sahrawi counterpart Buhobeini Yahia.

CRA’s president called on the international humanitarian organizations to visit the Sahrawi refugee camps to “enquire about the deteriorating humanitarian situation” of the refugees, reaffirming “CRA’s rejection to use the humanitarian action as a political weapon serving the interest of some sides.”

“The attempts aimed at starving the Sahrawi people will never break down their resistance,” she added, underlining that the settlement of the Sahrawi issue starts with the self-determination in accordance with the United Nations charters and resolutions. (SPS)
