Submitted on

London, 12 Sept 2015 (SPS) - The north London MP and Chair of The All-Party Parliamentary Group on Western Sahara, Jeremy Corbyn, has been elected leader of the British Labour party with nearly 59.5% of first-preference votes.

The new leader is known for his strong and uncompromising stand in favor of the Saharawi people's struggle for self-determination and independence.

He visited the occupied territories of Western Sahara where he was assaulted by the Moroccan forces of occupation, he knows very well the situation of the Sahrawi people living in the refugee camps, and he maintains excellent relationship with the Polisario Front.

He protested several times within his party and within the British parliament against illegal Moroccan occupation to Western Sahara and against the illegal trade treaties signed between European countries and Morocco that include the occupied territories of Western Sahara.

The Saharawi people celebrate the overwhelming victory of Jeremy Corbyn leading the Labour Party, one of the most important political forces in Britain. (SPS)
