Moroccan occupation expels three Spaniards from Occupied Dakhla

Submitted on

Dakhla Occupied, January 20, 2025 (SPS) - Moroccan occupation forces have once again expelled a journalist and two Spanish international observers from the occupied city of Dakhla.

This move is part of a broader effort to prevent journalists, human rights defenders, and international observers from entering the occupied territory of Western Sahara and exposing the human rights violations against Sahrawi civilians.

The Western Sahara Human Rights Defenders Collective (CODESA) - Dakhla Branch, reported that a group of Moroccan occupation forces attacked the home of Hassan Zarwali, a member of the administrative committee of the organization, in the occupied city of Dakhla on Sunday evening.

They forcibly deported three Spaniards during their meeting with Sahrawi activists, including the brother of a missing person. The report indicated that the occupation forces assaulted Hassan Zarwali and his father in the presence of CODESA members in Dakhla.

According to Sahrawi media reports, the incident involved two activists and their journalist companion from the newspaper "El Publico," who had arrived in the city on a flight from Madrid.

Their visit aimed to draw attention of Spanish and international public opinion to the involvement of a Spanish airline in violating a ruling by the European Court of Justice and supporting Morocco's illegal occupation of Western Sahara.
