Moscow, 5 August 2024(SPS) - The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Russia condemned France's support for the so-called "autonomy plan" within the alleged Moroccan "sovereignty" in Western Sahara, stressing that this decision "contradicts global diplomatic practice".
The party, in a statement, expressed its condemnation of "the new old position of the French government, which has revealed its true face by recognizing the so-called +autonomy plan+ for a territory registered for more than half a century as one of the territories awaiting decolonization".
The party considered that this decision "contradicts global diplomatic practice and is a disturbing signal, as it flouts the decisions of the United Nations, which has included Western Sahara for several decades in the list of territories awaiting decolonization".
The Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communists of Russia emphasized in the statement that "the decision of the French government in essence endorses the occupation of a member state and founder of the African Union, and provokes strong protest and condemnation by the Central Committee of the Party, which considers it an irresponsible act".
