Shaheed El Hafed, 8 April 2024 (SPS) - Sahrawi radio amateurs have won several medals on the occasion of the International Competition commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Radio Amateurs League in Spain, which includes more than 40000 members.
Sahrawi radio amateurs strive to convey the voice of the Sahrawi people to thousands of people in all countries of the world. Currently, amateur radio stations in Western Sahara are the most popular and respected at the international level.
It is worth noting that amateur radio in the Sahrawi Republic began its journey in October 1987 and was recognized by the international community with the assigned international call sign for the Sahrawi state (SO). Since then, hundreds of thousands of listeners have been engaged with Sahrawi Republic amateur radio.
Amateur radio can be defined as a hobby that involves communication via radio, bringing together individuals holding internationally recognized licenses. It is a self-standing hobby that relies on amateur communication worldwide through wireless communication devices.
