Algiers, 12 November 2023 (SPS) - The President of the Sahrawi National Council, member of the National Secretariat of the Polilisario  Front, Mr. Hama Salama, was received by the President of the Algerian Council of the Nation, Mr. Salah Goujil, at the headquarters of the Council of the Nation in Algiers.

During the meeting, the two parties discussed the regional and international developments, particularly in the occupied Palestinian territories. They also discussed several crucial issues, including the Western Sahara issue, and explored ways to enhance support and solidarity with the Sahrawi people in their resilience and resistance, renewing absolute support for their just cause and their inalienable right to self-determination.

President Salah Goujil reiterated Algeria's well-known, unwavering, and unconditional positions regarding the decolonization issues worldwide. These positions form the basis of Algeria's diplomacy and foreign policy led by Algerian President Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, based on its November reference and its revolutionary history that rejects all forms of tyranny, occupation, and oppression of peoples.

President Salah Goujil also praised the resilience of the Sahrawi people, led by the Polisario Front, in the face of the Moroccan state's obstinacy and its overt circumvention of international legitimacy resolutions. He stressed the importance of breaking the media blockade imposed on the Western Saharan issue and addressing the live consciences within the international community to activate the legal confrontation.

Furthermore, President Goujil called for expanding the idea of the European Coordination Committee for Solidarity with the Sahrawi people to include Asian and Latin American countries. This is to counter the misleading narratives of the occupying state and mobilize more support and solidarity with the just Western Saharan cause.

For his part, President of the Sahrawi National Council, Mr. Hama Salama, praised Algeria's consistent support for oppressed peoples around the world, particularly its unconditional and unwavering support for the Sahrawi people in their resistance against the occupation of their wealth and land. He commended Algeria's steadfastness, effectiveness, and refusal to compromise, succumb to pressure, or blackmail, especially in the current international climate characterized by the collusion of colonial powers against occupied peoples and serious humanitarian violations in Palestine and Western Sahara.

In the same context, the President of the Sahrawi National Council discussed the dire human rights situation in the occupied Sahrawi territories, resulting from the occupying state's violations, including killings, suppression, and arbitrary detention, as documented by various international reports. He affirmed the determination of the Sahrawi people to resist and confront the unethical tactics of circumvention, obstinacy, and procrastination employed by the occupying state until the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination is realized in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy. He called on honorable people worldwide to break the media blockade imposed on the Western Saharan issue.

In conclusion, both sides agreed on the importance of preserving and enhancing the cooperation and coordination between the Algerian and Sahrawi parliaments and pushing it towards a higher horizon through parliamentary diplomacy mechanisms.
