Submitted on

Aaiun (Occupied Territories), 9 November 2019 (SPS) - The Association of Sahrawi Human Rights Defenders (CODESA) on Saturday condemned the crimes committed by Morocco against the Sahrawis in the occupied cities of Western Sahara, calling for the establishment of a UN monitoring of human rights.
In a report on the situation of human rights in the occupied territories, the office of the CODESA reiterated its strong condemnation of the heinous crimes committed by Morocco against peaceful Sahrawis, reiterating at the same time the call for the establishment of a United Nations body to monitor and report on human rights in the occupied territories.
CODESA said that the report once again aims to address the human rights violations perpetrated by the Moroccan forces from 2 to 31 October 2019 against Sahrawi civilians in the occupied cities of Western Sahara, where these forces continue to confiscate Sahrawi civilian, political and economic, social and cultural rights "in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law".
These violations have already been reported by several international human rights organizations and a series of UN resolutions on Western Sahara cause.
In the report, concerning the chapter "Political detentions and unfair trials against Sahrawi civilians", the CODESA reported that Moroccan courts continued to prosecute Sahrawi civilians who were arbitrarily arrested during peaceful demonstrations, demanding the release of all Saharawi political detainees.
