Shahid El-Hafid (refugee Camps), 3 september 2022 (SPS) - Polisario Front's representative to the United Nations and member of the delegation in charge of negotiations, Dr Sidi Mohamed Omar, said Saturday that the Polisario Front extended a hand to peace and hold a finger on the trigger to defend the legitimate rights of the Sahrawi people.
Following a meeting with the UN Secretary-General's personal envoy for Western Sahara, Staffan de Mistura, the Sahrawi diplomat said "the Polisario Front is committed to a just peace, just as it is committed to defend, by all means, Sahrawi people's rights to meet their legitimate objectives for self-determination and independence."
Sidi Mohamed Omar reiterated Polisario Front's willingness to cooperate with the United Nations and the special envoy to reach a peaceful, just and lasting solution, based on the full respect of Western Sahara people's constant and inalienable right to self-determination and independence.
Commenting the reaction of Morocco which rejected the visit of the UN envoy to the occupied territories of Western Sahara, the Sahrawi diplomat, noting that he was not at all surprised, said the position of Rabat was motivated by the fact that De Mistura would discover by himself "the abuse and intimidation of Sahrawi citizens by Moroccan security forces."
