Beirut, Nov. 28, 2016 (SPS) Minister of State and Adviser to the Presidency, Bashir Mustafa Sayed, affirmed that the fourth afro-Arab Summit in Malabo was an opportunity to reaffirm the support for the just causes, including the Sahrawi and Palestinian issues.
The Minister of State in an interview with the Lebanese channel "Al-Thabat" stressed that the Kingdom of Morocco is experiencing a real crisis due to the global rejection of injustice and the failure of all its attempts to legitimize its illegal occupation of Western Sahara.
The Saharawi official recalled that the principles and objectives of the African Union consider the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) a full founding member and Morocco is expected to comply with the principles and the constitutive act of the AU.
Concerning the invitation of the SADR to participate in this summit, he affirmed that the Saharawi state, which is a founding member of the African Union, was invited to this summit through an invitation addressed to the President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Brahim Ghali.
He stressed that the behavior of Morocco during the Malabo summit gave a great support to the Saharawi issue through the majority of the countries, including the Arab countries.
"Before its accession to the African Union, Morocco must answer several questions including respect for the AU Charter, its borderline, respect for the right of peoples to self-determination, and peaceful solution of conflicts ", he added.
"If Morocco renounces its policy of aggression and accepts the organization of a referendum on the self-determination of the Saharawi people and the resolution of the problem that prevents the building of the Maghreb Union, it will be welcomed within the African Union, " estimated Bachir Sayed.
