Polisario Front Extraordinary Congress opens in Dakhla refugee camp

Dakhla (Saharawi Refugee Camps July 08, 2016 (SPS) - the Extraordinary Congress of the Polisario Front kicks off today its works in the Saharawi refugee camp of Dahkla, under the slogan "Strength, Determination and Will to impose national independence and sovereignty," with the participation of 2434 Saharawi delegates and a large number of foreign guests.
 
This Extraordinary Congress comes in accordance with article 49 of the Statue of the Frente POLISARIO, which stipulates that the President of the National Council (the Parliament) shall assume the post of the Secretary-General and President of the Republic until a new Secretary-General is elected in an extraordinary Peoples’ Congress to be held within 40 days.
In his address, the president of republic, SG of the POLISARIO, Mr. Jatri Aduh welcomed the foreign delegations participating, including Algerian delegation led by Minister of Mujahideen Mr. Tayeb Zitouni, along with delegations from Mauritania, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Angola, Mexico, Brazil, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Venezuela, Spain, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Austria, Italy, the European parliament, Egypt, Lebanon, along with civil society and the press. 
The Saharawi delegates, who are from the liberated territories, occupied territories, refugee camps and Saharawi diaspora abroad, will elect a new President  of Republic and secretary general of the POLISARIO after the death of the late President Mohamed Abdelaziz. (SPS)
