Ait Melloul (Morocco), Jan 09, 2019 (SPS) - The prison administration repeatedly prevented the visit to Sidahmed Lemjeyid, a Saharawi political prisoner, currently detained in the Moroccan prison of Ait Melloul 2, according to information received from the family.
The administration of the local Ait Melloul prison denied the right of family visit to the Saharawi political prisoner of the Gdeim Izik Group on Monday, January 7, 2019.
It denied visiting rights three times in the last months, on December 24, January 2 and January 7, in violation of the law on the rights of prisoners.
The Lemjeyid family protested for several hours in front of the prison, but received no explanation.
The prison of Ait Melloul is several hundred kilometers from El Aaiún, Western Sahara, and the travel expenses are a huge effort for the families of the political prisoners. SPS
