South Africa to host SADC Solidarity Conference with SADR

Windhoek (Namibia), August 19, 2018 (SPS) - South Africa will host the Solidarity Conference with the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) later this year, according to the final communiqué of the 38th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
SADC Summit, held in Windhoek in the Republic of Namibia August 17-18, stated in its final communiqué that the Solidarity Conference with the Sahrawi Republic will be held in October or November.
The conference, which was approved in the last SADC Summit held in South Africa in 2017, will be hosted by the Republic of South Africa, the statement added.
The Summit was attended by Heads of State and Government and representatives of some countries, as was President Paul Kagame of Rwanda and current chairman of the African Union, the Honorary Guest of the Summit.
The summit elected Dr. Hage Geingob, President of the Republic of Namibia, as the chairman of the SADC Group, and Dr. John Magufuli, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, as the chairman of the upcoming SADC Summit in Tanzania. (SPS)
