Submitted on

New York (UN), September 28, 2019 (SPS) - Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lesotho, Mr. Tom Thabane, called for an end to the occupation and the declaration of independence for Western Sahara, the last colony in the African continent.
in a speech Friday before the UN General Assembly, during the discussion session on article 8 of the agenda of the 74th session of the General Assembly, Mr. Thabane stressed that the international community cannot stand idly by while some countries interfere with the sovereignty of other members of the organization, pointing out that the Sahrawi people have been looking for independence for years and it is a right that they deserve like the rest of the world.
He explained that it was the duty of the United Nations to protect the sovereignty of its member states and prevent any interference in the affairs of other states, and expressed his country's refusal that the organization should remain indifferent to the plight of the people of Western Sahara, who were fighting for their right to freedom but to no avail.
