Auserd (Sahrawi Refugee Camps), 27 February 2021 (SPS) - President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), Brahim Ghali, stressed Saturday that the Sahrawi people will continue their struggle to impose justice and free the Sahrawi territory from the Moroccan occupier.
"The Sahrawi people will continue their struggle to impose justice and free the Sahrawi territory from the Moroccan ocuppier," said Ghali in his speech in Auserd (Saharawi refugee camps), on the occasion of the celebration of the 45th anniversary of the SADR proclamation.
On this occasion, Ghali, also Secretary General of the Polisario Front, stressed that the announcement of SADR proclamation "thwarted colonial attempts to eliminate the Sahrawi entity."
He added in this context that the proclamation of the Sahrawi Republic on February 27, 1976 "is a source of pride that protects Sahrawis' rights and embodies their hope to live in dignity and full sovereignty."
Ghali further said that "the outbreak of the armed struggle against the Spanish colonial occupier in Western Sahara was an extension of the long-term popular resistance, the latest manifestation of which was the 1970 Zemla uprising led by the late Mohamed Sid Brahim Bassiri."
The celebration "is also an opportunity to pause and pay a well-deserved tribute to martyrs" of the Sahrawi cause, "who sacrificed themselves for the good of this nation."
In the same context, President Ghali reiterated the consecration of national unity considering it as an important step to "thwart plans aimed at destroying the Sahrawi national project."
"The Sahrawi Republic continues to strengthen in the midst of the war of liberation (1975-1991), gaining its regional, continental and international position and persistently consecrating its institutions, bodies and executive, legislative and judicial power, with reference to the unique and distinguished experience that the Sahrawi people has conducted," the Sahrawi President further added.
