“The Sahrawi party remains adhering to its position, which was approved by the 16th Congress of the Polisario front” (Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar)

New York (United Nations), April 14, 2023 (SPS)- The Member of the National Secretariat, Representative of the Polisario Front at the United Nations and Coordinator with the MINURSO, Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar,  stressed that the Sahrawi party remains strongly adhering to its position which was approved and supported by the sixteenth Congress of the Polisario Front.
Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar mentioned, in a statement to RASD TV, that the safe passage which was provided to the MINURSO in the Liberated Sahrawi Territories between 5 and 7 of this month, to overcome some of the logistical challenges it is facing in reference to the goodwill gesture announced by the President of the Sahrawi Republic (SADR) and Secretary-General of the POLISARIO Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, in his letter to the UN Secretary-General, Mr. António Guterres, dated 29 March 2023.
The Secretary -General of the United Nations, Mr. Antonio Guterres, and High officials in the General Secretariat as well as members of the Security Council, including permanent members, expressed their thanks and gratitude for this initiative, which constitutes real support for the MINURSO mission and the efforts made by Mr. Stavan de Mistura, Personal Envoy For the Secretary -General of Western Sahara, to re -launch the United Nations peace process in Western Sahara.
In response to a question about the situation on the ground, Dr. Sidi Mohamed Omar indicated that since November 13, 2020, the date of the Moroccan occupation state violating and blowing up the ceasefire, the units of the Sahrawi Popular Liberation Army are still carrying out their attacks against Moroccan occupation forces along the wall of shame.
He also stressed, in the same context, that the Sahrawi party is still strongly adhering to its position, which was approved and supported by the sixteenth Congress of the Polisario Front, which calls for “escalating the fight” and continuing the struggle by all legitimate means to impose respect for the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination and independence and to restore sovereignty over all territory of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.
