Algiers, 17 June 2023 (SPS) - The Diplomatic Forum of Solidarity with the Sahrawi People opened Saturday, in Algiers, in the presence of the Sahrawi Foreign Minister Mohamed Sidati.
The Diplomatic Forum of Solidarity with the Sahrawi People, which coincides with the commemoration of the 53rd anniversary of the Zemla Uprising (17 June 1970), is being attended by ambassadors and representatives of African countries like South Africa, which has coordinated the organization of the event, Uganda, Kenya, Nigeria, Mauritania, Ethiopia, Angola, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Mozambique, Ghana and Mali.
The event is also attended by Latin American countries, such as Venezuela, Cuba, Peru and Colombia, alongside representatives of the Algerian and Sahrawi ministries of Foreign Affairs and the Algerian National Committee of Solidarity with the Sahrawi People.
In an opening address, the chargé d'affaires at the South African embassy in Algeria, Sello Patrick Rankhumise, stressed the need for Western Sahara people to enjoy their right to self-determination, recommending intensifying support for their struggle to achieve independence.
Speaking on the same occasion, the director general of African Affairs Department at the ministry of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Selma Malika Haddadi, said the decolonization process in Africa would only be complete with the decolonization of Western Sahara.
