Representative of Polisario Front in Geneva received by Ambassador of Zimbabwe, rotating Chairman of Geneva Support Group for Western Sahara

Geneva (Switzerland), June 24, 2023 (SPS) - Ambassador Stuart Comberbach of Zimbabwe, rotating chair of the Geneva Support Group for Western Sahara, received on the sidelines of the 53rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, Ambassador Ubbi Bushraya Bashir, representative of the Polisario Front in Switzerland, the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva.
The meeting discussed the latest developments in the national cause and the efforts of the Geneva Group to hold the United Nations and its Human Rights Council to shoulder their responsibilities towards decolonization and the protection of the rights of Sahrawi civilians under occupation.
The meeting also discussed the various aspects of the Group's work program during this year under the chairmanship of Ambassador Stuart Comberbach, where the Sahrawi Ambassador expressed the appreciation of the Sahrawi people for the great effort made by the Group under his chairmanship to deliver the voice of the Sahrawi people and advocate for their fundamental rights at the level of the United Nations and international organizations in Geneva.
Ambassador Stuart Comberbach addressed on behalf of the Group on June 20th the Commissioner for Human Rights and the Presidency of the Council, stressing the need to pay attention to violations of international humanitarian law and the systematic and serious violations of human rights in the territory of Western Sahara committed by the Moroccan occupying state.
