Submitted on

Brasilia, 3 July 2023 (SPS) - The Sao Paulo International Forum unanimously adopted a resolution supporting the Saharawi people and their just cause, and demanding an end to the Moroccan occupation of the Sahrawi territories.
The Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic marked its presence at the 26th Sao Paolo Forum in Brazil (June 29 to July 2), which also saw the participation of several political parties, associative movements and organizations from Latin America and the Caribbean.
The resolution calls for an end to the Moroccan occupation of Saharawi territories, the release of Sahrawi prisoners of conscience, and the settlement of the case of the 600 disappeared Saharawis.
It also condemns the Moroccan occupier's construction of a 2,720 km wall of shame, mined on both sides with over 5 million anti-personnel mines, and rejects the illegal exploitation of Sahrawi natural resources.
The Sao Paolo Forum invited the peoples of the world, as well as all the political forces and associative movements of Latin America and the Caribbean, to "strengthen and deepen their solidarity with the Saharawi people, with a view to enshrining Western Sahara's right to self-determination and independence".
The Forum also called on the UN to intervene to put an end to the military occupation of Western Sahara, and allow the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination and independence, through the organization of a free and fair referendum.
