Minister of Cooperation concludes working visit to Austria

Vienna (Austria) May 29, 2011 (SPS) - The Minister of Cooperation, Mr. Salek Baba Hasana, concluded Saturday a three-day working visit to the Republic of Austria, where he met a number of Austrian officials, parliamentarians, NGOs and representatives of the civil society, according to the Polisario Representation in Austria.

During his visit, the Saharawi Minister was received at the Austrian Parliament by its President, Mrs. Barbara Prammer, where he briefed the latest developments on the question of Western Sahara, humanitarian situation in the Saharawi refugee camps and human rights in the occupied territories.

From her part, president of Austrian parliament affirmed to continue support the just struggle of the Saharawi people for self-determination and freedom.

Mr. Salek Baba Hasana held talks with officials in the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Agency, where recalled to the failure in the negotiations due to Morocco’s intransigence.

He appreciated support of the Austrian government to the Saharawi refugees and its defend, during its membership in the UN Security Council, to the extension of MINURSO mandate in Western Sahara to include protection of human rights.

He also recalled to the necessity to take a position consistent with the spirit and ethics of Austria’s policy in regard to the fishing agreement between Morocco and EU, urging to continue support the Saharawi refugees.
