German parliamentary delegation visits Sahrawi Refugees camps

Berlin, June 9, 2011 (SPS) - German Parliamentary Delegation including five parliamentarians and headed by Mr. Frank Heinrich, from the Parliamentary Group of the Christian Democratic Party (CDU/CSU), is visiting Tuesday the Sahrawi refugee camps in the framework of a tour that lasts four days, according to a statement of the German Parliament received by SPS.

The aim of this visit is to study the humanitarian situation in the refugee camps and political developments and situation of human rights in Western Sahara. The parliamentarian delegation will meet Sahrawi officials, representatives of the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) and Sahrawi activists of human rights.

It will also meet with the Moroccan authorities and hold meetings in El Aaiun, occupied capital of Western Sahara, and Moroccan cities of Rabat and Casablanca.

It should be recalled that the German Parliamentary Delegation includes Mrs. Angelika Graf, Social Democratic Party (SPD), Mr. Serkan Toeren, Liberal Party (FDP), Mr. Heike Haensel, Left Party (die Linke), and Mr. Volker Beck, Green Party (Die Gruenen). (SPS)
