Bir Lehlou (liberated territories) July 17, 2011 (SPS) - “The independence of South Sudan is another victory for the just struggle of peoples to self-determination,” the President of the Republic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, has confirmed in a letter sent to Mr. Silva Kiir Myardit, president of the Republic of South Sudan.

The President of the Republic expressed, in a letter reached Sunday SPS, his conviction for promoting the foundations of peace, security and stability in Africa and elsewhere in the world saying “we are sure that the Republic of South Sudan, under your wise leadership, will play its full role in maintaining security and stability not only in Africa, but in other parts of the world.”

He also expressed, on behalf of the government and people of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic, sincere congratulations and best wishes for the South Sudanese people and government on the occasion of admitting South Sudan as the 193rd Member of the UN.

Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz considered that the historic decision taken by the Republic of South Sudan and Saharawi Republic by formally recognizing each other and establishing diplomatic relations “is an important step on the road to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood, solidarity and mutual support existing between our two countries and peoples.”

“We are very pleased to join the people of South Sudan in its celebrations of proclaiming the independence of their brotherly country in Juba on July 9, 2011,” the SADR President added, expressing “deep gratitude for the warm reception and generous hospitality shown to us during our staying in your sisterly country.”

He finally renewed the unyielding support and solidarity of the Saharawis to the government and people of South Sudan Republic in their endeavors to build and develop their independent state, confirming “strong determination to strengthen the close ties between the Saharawi and South Sudanese people and to boost them to the highest possible level in the interests of our two nations and those of our continent as a whole.” (SPS)
