Nigeria recommends UN to initiate mechanism for independence of SADR

New York, October 7, 2011 (SPS) - Nigeria has called on the United Nations to place a mechanism for the independence of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), during the session of the UN Fourth Committee, in charge of special political issues and decolonization in New York.

 

Nigeria's permanent ambassador to UN Augustine Ugochukwu Nwosa called on           the United Nations “to set in motion the machinery for the independence of Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic without further delay under the auspices and supervision of the United Nations.”

 

In this regard, he asserted Nigeria’s recognition and support to the Sahrawi Republic and people to self-determination and independence. (SPS)
