Costa Rica supports UN efforts to enable the Saharawi people of their rights to self-determination

United Nations (New York), Oct 12, 2011 (SPS) - The Permanent Representative of Costa Rica to the UN, Mr. Eduardo Ulibarri, affirmed Monday his country’s support to the UN efforts to enable the Saharawi people to exercise their right of self-determination and independence, in a speech to the UN 4th Committee.

The diplomat noted that the General Assembly has provided a formula that enables the people of Western Sahara to exercise self-determination through a referendum includes several options, calling for allowing the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to monitor the human rights violations in the Territory.
