Western Sahara: Mauritania holds to its official position of strict neutrality (Ould Abdelaziz)

Shaheed El Hafed, October 19, 2011 (SPS) - The President of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Abdelaziz has indicated in an interview with Channel Medi 1 Sat, that his country adheres to its official position of "strict neutrality" regarding the conflict of Western Sahara, pointing out that Mauritania is present in the negotiations for the settlement of the Sahara conflict under the auspices of the United Nations.

 

On the other hand, Ould Abdelaziz expressed his hope to see the construction of the Great Arab Maghreb, which peoples of the region aspire in a climate of peace, security and prosperity.

 

According to him this dream will be realized by the Maghreb peoples themselves, while expressing his hope that the changes in Tunisia and Libya will contribute to strengthening the Arab Maghreb Union. (SPS)
