Las Palmas (Canary Islands), Nov 13, 2011 (SPS) - The President of the Spanish Federation of Institutions in solidarity with the Saharawi People (FEDISSAH), Mr. Carmelo RAMÍREZ, said Friday “the respect for human rights and Saharawi people’s right to self-determination is the only way to avoid that this conflict take violent paths, no one wants that at the moment,” according to the Spanish News Agency (EFE).

The counselor in the Cabildo of Canary Islands ensured that his political formation Canary Coalition - New Canary Islands (CC-NC) - has a clear commitment in the general elections of Nov 20 with the cause of all the impoverished people, underlying that his support and solidarity is delivered in special to cause of the Saharawi people, which has been suffering for more than 36 years in ruthless conditions.

It is noteworthy that the Saharawi community in the Canary Islands, trades union supporting the Saharawi people, Canary Association of Solidarity with the Saharawi people and the Saharawi Youth Association in the Canaries organized Saturday a ceremony in the square of Saulo Torón in Las Palmas (Canary Islands) to commemorate the anniversary of the Tripartite Agreement and the dismantlement of the camp of dignity in Gdeim Izik.
