Chahid El Hafed, December 12, 2011 (SPS) The annual visit of more than 720 Spaniards to the Sahrawi refugee camps, went in good conditions of safety, is a " formal denial "to allegations of insecurity prevails following the kidnapping of three European aid workers by terrorists, said a statement of SADR Foreign Ministry.
"The stay of ten days for more than 720 Spaniards from different autonomous provinces of Spain is eloquent proof that security is guaranteed inside the Sahrawi refugee camps," the source underlined.
Several charter flights from different parts of Spain have carried hundreds of Spaniards (foster children, politicians, parliamentarians, trade unions, journalists, civil society, etc) to visit the four wilayas forming refugee camps.
"We praise these women and men who have paid no interest to the false propaganda of our enemies who aimed to dissuade them from visiting the refugees. A courageous decision which reflects also solidarity and support that are constantly paying by the Spanish people to the just cause of the Saharawi people and its legitimate right to freedom and independence, "the statement added.
The three aid workers Aino Fernandez Corner, a Spanish citizen, member of the Friends of the Saharawi people in Extremadura (Spain), Enrico Gonyalons, a Spanish citizen, member of the Spanish NGO MUNUPAT and Rossella Urru, an Italian member of the Italian NGO CCISPP, were abducted by terrorist group in the night from 22 to 23 October.
The terrorist act aimed to "intimidate foreign aid workers, impair international solidarity with the cause of the Saharawi refugees, tighten the noose on the Saharawi people and deprive them of the humanitarian aids", MFA statement concluded.
