Parliament session: Intifada, readiness of Liberation Army and political organization…main headlines in 2012 Government programme

June 9th School (refugee camps), March 19, 2012 (SPS) - The spring session of the Saharawi National Council (Parliament), allocating to ratify programme of the Government, continues for the third day, in the presence of the Prime Minister, Mr. Abdelkader Taleb Omar, and members of the National Secretariat and government.
The session is the first after its inauguration following the 13th Congress of the Frente Polisario.

The priorities adopted by the Polisario Thirteenth Congress, including Intifada in the occupied territories, readiness of the People’s Liberation Army, activation of the political organization and intensification of the diplomatic and media action, are prominent headlines in 2012 Government programme, being discussed by members of the Saharawi National Council.

Sunday session marked by answers of the Government members on the Social Committee, which includes the sectors of health, culture, education, youth, sports and social welfare, focusing on the need to increase the social and health services of the citizen as well as maintaining the cultural heritage and expand the program of the of social welfare beneficiaries.

Minister of Culture, Ms. Khadija Hamdi, pointed to the importance of the International Film Festival in Western Sahara (FiSahara) which attracts attention of the international media, highlighting that this edition films “are to be checked before screening.”

From his part, Minister of Health, Mr. Mohamed Lamin Dadi, confirmed that the Ministry will implement the programme of combating the diseases of HIV and chronic diseases, adding that it will encourage the natural breastfeeding.

Minister of Youth and Sport, Mr. Mohamed Mouloud Mohamed Fadel, praised the efforts made to develop the sector, stressing on the need to organize sports events.
According to the law regulating its work, the three ministers were given 48 hours to present their answers to the questions of the social committee of the Saharawi National Council.

The Parliament includes the Committee of Foreign Affairs, Information and Protocol, Economic Committee, Social Committee, Committee of Defense and Security, Political Committee as well as Legal and Administrative Committee. (SPS)
